  • Notes 
    • He was an excellent swimmer in local competitions he was well known and successful, prior to WW1. He enlisted in the Army on 28 Aug. 1914 (No. 2/973) as Trumpeter/Gunner in the N.Z. Field Artillery, 4th. Howitzer Battery, he saw overseas action and rose to Acting Bombardier, he was wounded at Gallipoli, this eventually led to him being discharged medically unfit for war service, on 17 Aug. 1918. He was able to enlist again in the Army as a Driver in WW2 (No. 801197) on 28 Jan. 1942, he didn't leave N.Z., in May 1943 he was a passenger in a truck that crashed, he received some injuries which again led to him being discharged on a part pension on 28 Aug. 1943.
