Notes:

Bob spent his early years at Millgrove. However he soon moved with his family down to the Caulfield area and began his schooling at Caulfield PS in 1922. From 6th Grade he went to Glenhuntly PS where he achieved the Merit Certificate at the completion of 8th grade. He then attended Zerchos Business College for two years before commencing work at Waters Trading Co as a temporary clerk in 1931 at the age of 15 years. The company specialized in the importation and export of spices. He joined the Army on 8 April 1942 in the Training Battalion of the Australian Army Service Corps. He was later seconded to "C" Company -24th Infantry Battalion with the rank of Private. He was posted overseas to Papua New Guinea from March 1943 to September 1944. He was home in Australia until the end of 1944. 1st January 1945 saw Bob posted to Bougainville for 12 months before being discharged as a Sergeant in early 1946. It was during this time that Bob received his Military Medal for "B"Bravery in the Field" in April 1945. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to Waters Trading as Factory and Warehouse Manager, where he remained until his retirement on December 24,1976 at the age of 60. He married Dorothy in 1939 and after the war they lived in Caulfield, in 1957 they moved to Mt. Waverley where their 3 daughters grew up, in 1982 they moved to Vermont.

Robert married EVANS, Dorothy Muriel (Dot) on 9 Dec 1939 in Caulfield, Victoria, Australia. Dot attended Caulfield PS #773 from Preps in 1922 to Year 8 . She was about 15 when started working as a machinist at a knitting factory in the Caulfield area. She worked there until she married Bob in 1939. During the war she lived with her parents and went back to work in the knitting factory until the end of the war. When reunited with Bob she resumed home duties and with Bob raised their three daughters.

In the early years Edwin lived at Millgrove in the Warburton Area working as a timber cutter for the mills and he later worked for the Forestry Commission, after moving to Caulfield he worked as a road contractor and a market gardener amongst other things.

Edwin married LOMAX, Victoria Alice Maude in 1906 in Victoria, Australia. Victoria (daughter of LOMAX, Frederick Sibley and WATKINS, Mary Ann) was born in 1887 in Elsternwick, Victoria, Australia; died on 30 Nov 1957 in Caulfield, Victoria, Australia; was buried on 2 Dec 1957 in The Necropolis, Springvale, Victoria, Australia. Victoria was the third of six children, she lived at 23 Curraweena Rd. Caulfield for the later part of her life.

He was a twin, joined the Victorian Railways 14 November 1876 and was employed for many years. He voted in the Federal Referendum on Federation in 1899, he was then a railway Guard at Maryborough, he was reputed to have been a Guard on the "Overland" from Melbourne to Adelaide.

Thomas married TATTERSON, Mary on 28 Feb 1880 in Malmsbury, Victoria, Australia. Mary (daughter of TATTERSON, Edwin and WHITEHEAD, Sarah) was born in 1858 in Richmond, Victoria, Australia; died on 13 May 1939 in South Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Mary was the 4th. of 9 children, prior to her death she resided at 166 York St. Sth. Melbourne, 4 of her children had predeceased her. It is likely that Mary signed the Women's Suffrage Petition 1891 as there is a signature for M. Staley, Maryborough.
