Notes - Hugh enlisted in WW1 June 30, 1915, No.1293, he left Australia for Egypt in September 1915 and returned 4 years later, he'd been wounded twice and had times in hospital with illness. His papers say that he was an apprentice to J Bates & Co. IrIronfounders of Elizabeth St. Melbourne and that he'd been a member of the Scottish Regimental Band and left because he moved from the district, he was single and gave his mother as NOK, her address was Jumbuk via Yinnar (in the Latrobe Valley of Gippsland) Hugh's occupation was Farmer.
